Our goal is to place our players in an environment
that allows them to experience soccer in
a way that is physically, intellectually,
and socially age-appropriate. The U9 CATALYST
program will give those players interested
in playing competitive soccer an opportunity
to transition from the recreational level
to the competitive level in a more appropriate
manner.
Program Concept
The
future success of Ballistic United lies
with our younger players and quality
coaching. Therefore, we have decided
to use our most technically gifted coaches
with the group of players that need it
most! This fusion should create a technical
skill base that will allow for success
at older age groups when things really
matter for a budding soccer player. BUSC
will emphasize the development of technical
skills such as shooting, dribbling, receiving,
shielding, passing, heading, tackling,
crossing, etc. under this program.
Every training session
for our U-9 player is about skill development – we will
focus on at least two skill topics and
occasionally three! We will keep the attention
of this group by using 3 (15-20 minute)
skill stations and by keeping things fun
and competitive. Each trainer will run
a skill station with 9-12 players for 15
-20 minutes and then stations rotate until
all players have experience each station.
All of our “Catalyst” trainers
have Professional and National team experience
so our players are able to visually see
the correct technique after topics are
verbally explained!
Dribbling is always
a skill station! We teach over 35 soccer
specific moves, and explain how and why
they work. Where they work on the field
would be considered tactical and that
is not what we are teaching! A quick
recap…Anything Technical is
simply the proper technique…how
you do something! Anything tactical requires
thought.
The games for our U-9 players are solely
for developing their soccer personalities,
training sessions are where they learn
the skills that will carry them through
their soccer careers!
Rationale
- Provide every child with the best soccer
educational experience within this age
group.
- Provide a social arena for future soccer
stars to learn form each other
- Provide an environment conducive to
learning
- Remove the pressure/anxiety of winning
- Have players fall in Love with the
ball!
- Eliminate the need to create distinctive
teams therefore eliminating the anxiety
over team placement
- Allow our professional trainers the
ability to work individually with our
youngest players and identify and evaluate
throughout this year of development
- Pick and choose who and when we play…based
on our players’ development
- Provide an environment where players
believe the more “skillful” they
become…the more success they will
have…thereby building confidence
with the ball and confidence on the field
Playing Season
- Training: July through November. A
brief break for the holidays, and training
will commence again in January through
February.
- Games / Scrimmages: Scrimmage
games will he played throughout the year
- mostly on Friday’s and Sunday’s. Most
games will be in the Tri-Valley area. Players
will be selected and rostered for games
and scrimmages throughout the season. A
group of 12 players will be rostered
to play in Al Caffodio, and the remaining
players will be rostered on rotating
teams to play in our Division 4 under
10 league.
- Select Jamborees
(tournaments): We
anticipate playing in a minimum of 2
jamborees (one in Sonoma and our own
Jamboree held in October). All
players in the U9 Catalyst program will
play in the Jamboree games.
